![]() ![]() The Chicago processing centre is always horrifically slow at this time of year, sometimes takes ~4 weeks just to get through customs - but they do clear the backlog eventually.įor the UK-to-Germany one you had issues with previously, it's not unknown for Royal Mail packages to get handed over to Hermes on arrival in Germany. Take a look at the address for your customer and work out which of the US processing centres the package would have landed in - New York and Los Angeles tend to be pretty quick, but if it landed in Chicago, that could explain the lack of updates. If the last tracking update on Royal Mail's site says Langley, then chances are it is actually in the US, but still waiting to clear customs - there's often a lack of tracking updates between Langley and leaving customs in the US, so it's a bit of a void. This is fortunately my only item that I don’t know for sure that it’s arrived so I’m lucky there, but would like to figure it out before checking with the customer!Ĭan confirm that UK-to-US packages get handed over to USPS once they clear customs. I reached out to the customer twice to check whether it had arrived and they never replied so maybe it did turn up and maybe this has too? Which isn’t okay when you’ve paid a lot extra for a tracked and signed service which states full tracking to the point of delivery. Nothing on RM or Deutsche Post after it left the U.K. I don’t fully trust it because I had exactly the same happen with a package to Germany a few months ago. Just checking that it’s definitely USPS I should be tracking it with? I would understand if it hadn’t arrived due to delays but for there to be no tracking for over two weeks now is concerning. So the tracking on the other sites still worked but was total nonsense. ![]() I know when a friend sent me a package from the US this year, the tracking was nuts - USPS said delivery had been attempted, Royal Mail said it wasn’t in the country, then I realised Parcelforce get the American parcels - when I checked their tracking it said they were holding it for customs fees to be paid. I haven’t spoken to the customer yet, it’s a gift going direct to the recipient so they may not even realise it’s missing yet. So I checked USPS tracking and it just has the same info as the Royal Mail tracking (nothing since it was tracked in the U.K. Then it says further updates will be available in the recipient country. Last update was 9th December saying it’s being processed through Langley (think this is Heathrow). I sent an item from England to the US on 8th December by Royal Mail (international tracked and signed).
